Hitting Your Marks

A pet peeve of mine in films is when you see the actor looking down at his mark as he or she approaches it.

Of course they try to do it subtly, or work it into a look or gesture, but it is so annoying when you are watching two hour of people glancing at the floor.

A good director—and let’s be honest, a good actor—conceals such faux pas expertly.

Hitting your mark is a necessity.

Just don’t advertise it.
